I'm trying to free up GPIO or use as few as possible to drive these. I need to keep the hardware SPI free thou looking at the library by Memotech Bill I'm using that uses PIO and not the hardware SPI.
The only thing with PWM if I have this write is that it's shared with other pins an I'm going to using PWM for audio output.
I don't know if there is an i2C chip that can drive 4 or so LEDs that would be cheap enough to add to my design. I have a bus setup I could use but I might be making things worse
