Hi,
I first bought a Pi 5 with 4GB RAM, and videos on youtube were choppy above 2K. I thought that I had made a mistake in going for the 4GB RAM version, so I purchased the version of Pi5 with 8GB RAM.
The Pi 5 with 8GB RAM has the standard RaspberryPi case with Fan. .

With this video, you can select 2K, 4K, or 8K resolutions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JruWsyyP9pw
2K plays fine.
4K is a little bit choppy, and fan is at high speed
8K just keeps buffering, with the wheel spinning most of the time, it is impossible to have a smooth experience
Have I reached the limit of the Pi 5 in terms of video resolution that I can handle ?
For youtube video, 4K is fine, but I sometimes use some live streaming and only the only resolution offered keeps buffering in Pi 5 with 8GB RAM, so it is a real issue.
Would purchasing a case with a beefed up Fan make any difference, or have I reached the limit of the CPU ?
