I'm just here to say good luck and hope someone can help, as I have similar problems - I have tried for a whole day ( and with the help of ChatGPT to get TigerVNC working on mine , a 3B+ but with freshly installed up to date 32 bit OS.
So I'll be following your thread.
The 'help" of ChatGPT was really useless, by the way, probably why it has taken so long and got nowhere !
It shouldn't be so hard - I have set up many Pis headless before but the methods have changed and tbh, the sources of intelligent and friendly help seem to have diminished.
