Raspberry Pi OS • Re: how to install pi-apps? (pi3B, Stretch)

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Stretch packages are no longer in the main repository (this takes up space on many servers, which costs money to provide). It has been moved to a "legacy" server. If you search the forums you will find (very) old posts telling you what you need to do to access it. No promises that you'll be able to use pi-apps with it as that may depend on newer versions of some software.
sorry, as already stated I have no idea what you mean for what I have to search for - not only pi-apps can't be installed but neither chocolate doom or anything... can you please link to a page how to install either common apps on my older Stretch using apt-install like most apps require?
Search terms: stretch legacy

You should be able to find an announcement about Stretch. It will say you need to change the line(s) in /etc/apt/sources.list (or a file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/) where it mentions "raspbian". Then apt-get update and apt will work again.
Probably I would choose Bookworm as a new OS to be on the most future-proof side...
Bookworm will be current for another year or so. Then comes Trixie. Whether there will be an easy upgrade from one to the other, I don't know. It may be that all the big changes have been done and it will be simple.
