General • Re: Can Power Method Affect ability to use Internal Pullups?

Sorry I got a little lost on Pin 9 vs 4, not sure if that refers to GPIO number or the number of the pin on the board (1-40). GPIO9 is an input reading from a rotary encoder. Board pin #39 (VSYS) is the power in pin I'm using.

As you said I think I may try the external pull-up resistors (thanks for recommending values) as I know that the other reed switches are working fine with them.

Thanks for you help.
Don't worry, I was a bit confused as to where Lobo-T was getting his pin numbers from also, as you didn't specify. I'd ignore his post to be honest.

From what I can see, you have it wired up correctly, but could be overloading that 7805 a bit like ghp suggested. Which is likely why the 5v is getting pulled down.

Perhaps running the Pico off it's own 7805 will lighten the load and give a better power output for you. I'd still suggest external pull-ups just to be on the safe/reliable side, to ensure jitters don't affect operation.
