Ummm... Depends on what's feeding the database. I've been using a Pi4B-4GB running a full LAMP stack, as well as C programs for CLI interface all feeding a MariaDB database. The mass storage is a USB 3 attached SATA III SSD. The system spends most of it's time just waiting for input.Storage? Are you booting microSD or SSD? The Pi 4 and 5 have a faster microSD slot for use with the fastest microSD cards but some applications will swamp them and need SSD. The Pi 5 can also use an NVMe adaptor for the fastest disk access, the type you need for things like database updates.
