Hey no it is definitely not spam... and the link is super relevant because that is where I had taken the tiles from....

So the "software" is custom, its just a python game that myself and 2 buddies had made. Honestly it is pretty bad but people seem to live it when they come over but it might have to do w the beer! :D

Are you booting directly into your game without using the Linux kernel and any other software? If not you will have software licenses to check.

Did you write every line of code in your game or did you use (third party) library code? Same thing applies.
So this is where I took the tiles from - VGMaps
https://vgmaps.great-site.net/maps/nes/

I used gimp to take the tiles from the maps from zelda, mario and others.

Hmm those games are still under copyright. IIRC the owners are pretty strict and direct about enforcing that.
The site doesn't have anything about licensing and the response email from them was they were not sure what I was asking....

That's not a good sign.
I don't think that site owns the maps wheree the tiles come from and I can't tell if they licensed them.

Neither is this.

I'd be backing away from that site/those assets with my hands up. Just because they've got away with what might be copyright infringement doesn't mean you will. I'd be doing that even if the project will never leave my basement.

Ultimately it's up to you. If using those assets is breaching someone's copyright how confident are you that you can get away with it? That if you do get caught that you, your buddies, and the bar owner won't be sued into bankruptcy?

I wouldn't risk it but I wouldn't have got my assets that way either.
