Thanks for the response! I am running a Raspberry Pi 4 with 4GB of RAM. I started googling your suggestion about Wayland and that was the fix. I haven't seen this noted in any of the HamClock install/setup guides. Thanks for your help!

That's the trouble with random projects and random guides found on the internet - they often aren't kept up to date with the latest changes. Always check the date of the last update to the project/guide before attempting to apply it.
