RealVNC just changed their program. You can still use RealVNC server freee of charge on your RaspberryPi and the the client is always free to use. Sign up for an account and the Lite program. You can have 3 servers running with the cloud connections. It is a non-commercial account. If you are doing business with RealVNC server you need a regular account.
That said, x11vnc run fine on a Pi. I haven't tried it with a Pi5 running Wayland but it works on all the others. I have dozens of them running with bullseye and buster and x11vnc. You can also use the RealVNC client with x11vnc. It has a pretty good address book and is really easy to use.
