Good Lord. This is what I get when I try to communicate with nerds I guess. People who have ZERO clue how to communicate. God help me for what I'm about to do, and by that I mean allowing you to get a reaction out of me because god knows that immature people with no life solely live for that... but... maybe out of sheer sympathy for you, and maybe out of surrender... here it goes. I'll give you what you want and respond.
memjr... I hope to hell you're not a parent or a teacher or a manager, because the way you talk down to someone is very indicative of insecurity and you will never get through to someone when you condescend and weave coy little insults in among your remarks like a snob.
Funny thing is, I've given you the link to this same place where all you had to do was click on one more link to get an expert and yet you missed entirely.
Yeah? Is that the "funny thing" to you? All I had to do huh? You don't think I THOROUGHLY checked your links and found absolutely nothing helpful? The question is... Did YOU bother to check your advice before you gave it? Seriously, I ask a question, and I get an emotional troll responding to me saying "well I don't know how to fix your problem but if you google it you can find your answer" like a child. I DID google it genius. There's no answer. So I missed nothing entirely.
Look, I've been in your shoes. It sucks. You get an idea, but you can't make it happen because you don't have what's necessary to make it work on hand. So you go off to the internet and start looking and can't find anything. You turn to some people for help and they can't help you either. It's part of life. Accept it or don't. It does not make the least bit of difference to me.
Awwww you've been in my shoes? Are you relating to me now to make me feel better? Clearly it makes a big different to you because you can't help yourself. You HAVE to respond. You admit you can't help me, so why even respond? Do you feel better about yourself that you've "chipped in" even if you have useless input? Are you that guy that speaks up just to participate even when you have nothing of value to contribute? The brown noser type?
I've been programming computers since I was 9 or 10. I've been working, professionally, ...
God help us here comes the life story. The redemption song. The self validation. The insecure pride. Trust me... save it. No one cares.
It's been 7 days since your first posted your questions here. There is NO ONE ELSE around...
OMG ALL HOPE IS LOST ITS BEEN A WEEK! Because its not like people take breaks from forums and things don't develop over time. Gee... you're right. If I don't get my answer in 7 days it must never be coming.
Listen you elitest curmudgeon, I asked you not to reply and you just couldn't help yourself. You insist on bringing emotion into this and making snide remarks, well I hope you got the response you wanted and you're sitting there giggling like a child while you read this.
rpdom.. if you're reading this, how in good hell can you call this "useful advice"? memjr is an antagonizing immature troll who has done nothing but spam this post with condescending emotion while repeatedly telling me to go somewhere else for my answer. MY BAD for thinking I could post a question, and get responses from others who have knowledge on the subject and are trying to accomplish the same thing. I'm trying to do ONE thing on this pi. I'm an amateur that knows little to nothing about linux or ubuntu or debian or coding or programming or building from source or anything like this... so sue me for wondering if there was an expert out there that has either done what I am trying to do or knows how and could give me some simple steps to achieve it instead of recommending I spend countless hours learning programming and becoming an expert. I just want to play some damn games on bookworm... not become a linux master. If you can't see how memjr is being completely inappropriate than perhaps it's because you can relate. Either way... you will never convince me that his input is helpful, and I wish he'd stop, but god help me I gave in and he's probably typing a novel right now.
gavin... THANK YOU for a normal and practical response. So.. in the past week I've found that it seems I can run EmulationStation on top of the desktop just as my initial post mention, but there's a catch... I have to reduce my Bookworm OS to 32bit. I wish there was a way to keep it on 64bit. I tried installing it and it just fails when I launch it. I'm going to try again with 32bit and see if it works. Running a VM... I have no knowledge or experience with this or those programs you mention. At the end of the day, it may be just a matter of waiting until they support 64bit.
