Advanced users • RPI CM4 Flashing from USB Pendrive!

Hi All,

I am trying to flash the CM 4 board via USB Pen-drive. I am able to boot it from pen-drive, but when board eMMC is in read and executable mode. When I tried to put eMMC into write board board is not even start to booting up. I am not able to see any of the activity on the display.

My idea is, If i try to connect USB Pen-drive on USB Slave port via both side USB Female Cable, will it be possible to flash eMMC ? My objective is to flash the board via USB Pen-drive only, as arranging laptop and all, is not a feasible approach to work in the field.

1. Now the bottleneck is how to check activity of board when USB Pen-drive is getting connected on the USB Flash port ?
2. Can I use the board connected HDMI display to debug same i.e. USB Pen-drive containing RPIBoot, RPI-Imager/dd via an script to automate the process and attaching that script into RPIBoot and triggring that whole rpiboot via primary boot-loader or from some where from uboot where it will be most feasible ?

If and of the raspberry foundation engineer of other users can suggest something will be an immense help here. In case some tried same or something here and there and got some success to flash the board via usb pendrive or some less resources then full computer, then its my humber request to share with examples or some steps of some guidelines.

Thanks & Regards.
Ankur
