Starting from a fresh image, on a RPi4, I discover that the 1080p bin file does enable audio, but the display resolution is awful- speckles in the desktop background image. Worse, it disables the 7" touchscreen display when I switch to it. I have to remove
drm.edid_firmware=HDMI-A-1:1080p_audio.bin video=HDMI-A-1:1024x768M@60D
from cmdline.txt to enable the touchscreen to work again. An acceptable trade-off; the end use/application for the RPi4 is as a portable monitor for a home brewery. The TV monitor was useful for code development.
