Use timeshift for system backups.
deja-dup, pika backup, rsync, etc for backing up your /home data.

I have used my pi400 as my desktop computer since 2021, I have had very few problems.

Yes.
I retired my Intel tower PC when the Pi 5 arrived. I been using the Pi 5 ever since, also with no problems.
Its not just the low price ... its the size of a credit card taking very little desk space, sips electricity, is silent, the OS is free and well maintained/supported.
