BTW, the so-called "cleanup" of the thread in question seems to just be the removal of my post where I state that my previous post(s) was/were joke(s). I don't see how deleting *that* post solves any problem.
If you (and you know who "you" are) really think that the suggestion of using "objdump" to read the contents of a shared library file really is in poor taste, then you should have deleted all the posts (i.e., not just mine) that espouse that idea.
The "joke" post was an attempt to explain that maybe OP should not have taken the suggestion of objdump too seriously, but then again if applying the tool enlightens him, then so be it. I actually have learned a lot from reading the man page of - and using - this tool.
Anyway, most of the other posts in that thread are/were a lot more insulting than mine were.
