I use one of those, short cable type, and I added an 'ON' label. Needs one short cable to match the micro USB socket of the Pico
Does not have to be disconnected. Just switch off, press the bootloader button, switch on. Copy UF2 over. Repeat. The only minor issue I have is that I believe a Pico sometimes connects at low speed, but I'm generally to blame since the other end is plugged into a cheap unpowered hub before getting to the PC.
