Just to be clear...I don't expect a 16GB Pi-500 (it could happen...but I don't expect it). The reason to mention 16GB is that there have been mentions indicating an intent to release a 16GB CM5 and the rev.1.1 Pi5 PCB apparently (I haven't seen one yet) shows a jumper position to indicate 16GB. This all combines to suggest the possibility, and--perhaps--a probability, of a 16GB Pi5.I think 8GB of ram is already a good balance. Most chromebooks ship with less. 16 would be fantastic but 8 is "enough" for day to day use imo.
I agree that 8GB is a pretty good balance for RAM in the Pi-500. That said, there will always be people who want MORE...that's more of *everything*. That will include agitation for a 16GB Pi-500. It will probably also spark comments from people wanting a 1TB RPT branded NVMe SSD, and--pretty likely--asking for an RPT branded 128GB uSD card. I don't see any of those happening in the foreseeable future, but there WILL be people wanting them.
