Troubleshooting • Re: Out-of-the-box B+'s not booting

I've had issues in the past with smaller (<4GB) µSD cards not being recognised, I don't recall which PIs had issues (early b+ and/or possibly a 2b) but it wasn't limited to just PIs, I have an Odroid xu4 with the same issue.
The cards work fine on a PC card reader but nothing happens when they're in a PI. It's not a huge issue, I just used a bigger card.
I run Alpine Linux on a 256MB mini sd card with an adapter on a raspberry pi 1b (512MB) without a problem.

This is all a bit anecdotal as I can't recall exactly which PIs or cards were involved (other than being small than a 4GB µsd) but it is probably worth trying a bigger card.
The point is that PINN (at least) will need a bigger card, it simply won't fit with any of the OSs it supports in less than 8GB. (You might find some minimal OS that will fit 4GB, but it's hit and miss).
I don't know the space requirement for Alpine, but certainly more than 256MB!
When you do get a bigger card, I would try Raspberry Pi OS 32bit first, as it is best supported and known to work on a Pi B+.
