General discussion • Creation of raspberry Pi iso image with Redo Rescue and Rufus

I have an old Raspberry Pi 2 model B and wanted to try the new application RP Connect. However it apparently requires the Bookworm OS. The OS currently employed is Bullseye (with GUI). The SD card on my RP has projects and data that I would like to keep and so I thought about copying the current SD card iso image using Redo Rescue. This application was loaded onto the RP and an iso image created (on the RP). Now in order to make a bootable iso image it appears that I need to use Rufus, which apparently can copy the iso image to a USB attached to the RP. This USB can then be used to boot from the next time the RP is powered up. Before this happens it appears I can update the RP OS to Bookworm, however this will wipe all data from the SD card attached to the RP.

So my question is, can I use the above procedure to update the RP SD card OS to Bookworm and then transfer the data/programs that were originally on the RP via the iso image created using Redo Rescue/Rufus?
