Automation, sensing and robotics • Re: 360° Serial bus servo like a stepper

Let's hope it's i.e. some of these https://www.waveshare.com/product/robot ... -servo.htm from our CCC friends at waveshare
They explicitly show continuous rotation mode ... up to 7 circles --> might not be what OP want to achieve!
Thanks, I read this information too. But 7 circles are too less. I just need to go in one direction each time 45° without any limit.
I think I have to go with a simple stepper and use this servo for something else.
Where does it say there's alimit to rotation?
The data specifically says
MECHANISM LIMITED ANGLENo Limit
If there's a command to set a zero point it should be possible to move 45°, set zero, repeat indefinitely.
Continuous rotation in "motor mode" is possible, but that may not track how far it moves.

I'm sure this servo can do endless 45° moves.

You can set the zero point and move from there. You can even use it like a stepper
As a high-torque programmable serial bus servo, it is equipped with a 360° high-precision magnetic encoder, which can realize 360-degree absolute angle control. With the program to control, any angles can be set as the middle of the position, and it can also be switched to the continuously rotating motor or stepper motor mode. The built-in acceleration start-stop function makes the action softer.
