Troubleshooting • Re: No Internet connection with ethernet cable plugged in

An old trouble shooting technique is to ask questions to which the answer should be obvious...but isn't always. Also known as "stupid questions."

You've plugged a CAT-5 (or better) cable into your Pi. What is the other end of the cable plugged into (if anything)?

Is your (believed to be static) IP address within the IP block defined by your router?

Does any other device on your LAN have the same IP address?
Yes, I have a CAT-6 cable plugged into a PoE switch. This switch is then connected to a large network switch located in our IT room.
I dont think any other device has the same IP address.
