Hello bright minds,
So I'm wondering if the subject line about the pin ball has you confused and perhaps drew you into checking out this post? I hope
What I am looking for is a device or way to build a device that simulates that spring loaded pushing action when you pull back on a pinball machine handle. The goal? I want to build a device somehow that has a series of tennis balls stored in it (say a tube or right sized PVC pipe...ect) but I want to have a device at the bottom where this "pinball" launcher would provide a decent amount of horizontal force "shooting" the tennis ball across the room. This is for my dog, so that I can program said contraption to randomly fire off tennis balls to keep the dog entertained when no one is home ect..
So if you can picture an L shaped tube, the part that is horizontal is where a ball would sit, and then the mystery contraption would push it out with good force to send it a few feet across the room. Since that ball has been launched a new ball would fall down the tube and be ready to launch again.
Problem is I have no idea to accomplish such task. I'm not great with motors, I mean I've done the basic expirments they have you do with motors in the kits you buy to learn, but outside of that I have not really used motors/servos for any project.
Thoughts on how I could go about this?Almost like an electronic piston that retracts once fired to let the next ball fall into place. Hope that makes sense.
The second question is much easier to explain. My office window (standard double paned house window) faces the front door. I want to build a device that would detect the motion of someone walking up to my door and have my Pi5 take pictures of the person approaching/standing there. Problem is from what I can tell there are really no devices that work from inside the house to measure motion outside the house, meaning the double paned windows interfere with PIR sensors, microwave sensors, IR sensors ect... so I don't know if there is a type of sensor that would work for this purpose?
I do not want to have any devices outside the home, I know that would make really easy but I don't want to have to mount a box or boxes with gear to sense the motion and then send a signal back to the Pi5 to take photos. Plus then I have to add power to stuff outside and there's nothing stopping some punk kid from coming by and messing with it!
So is there a way I measure the motion of a human body approaching my door from within the home so that I can trigger my PI5 camera to take photots? It should be noted that I have a mountain of MCU's that I would be willing to setup INSIDE the house no problem. I have Picos PicoW's ESP32s ect...
Curious on your thoughts of a tennis ball ejection system for doggy entertainment as well as an indoor only configured semi security camera to take photos of any person approaching the door, with no electrical bits outside the home.
Thanks in advance,
Sorry if these are dumb questions, I am forever a newbie![Sad :(]()
