General discussion • new way to hide menu bar

Before the most recent upgrade of Raspi OS, I had 'patched' the OS to hide menu bar. Then I upgraded/updated to the current ver. Desktop then went absolutely bonkers. I realized the new version did not like the 'patch' .... at all. So, now here I am with the newest version not knowing how to hide the menu bar in a compatible way.

Can anyone help me, please ..... in detail. Thank you in advance.
