It was Tom's Hardware saying the RM2 contains a CYW43439 but it's not clear what evidence that is based upon. It obviously is CYW43439 compatible or the MicroPython drivers wouldn't work otherwise.
I'm not as convinced as others that the official Pico 2W will use the RM2 because I would expect it to be designed for lowest cost, maximum revenue. I would expect a Pico 2W to more likely be a Pico W with just the RP2040 swapped for an RP2350A, maybe with a PCB trace antenna.
I guess it will come down to how much the RM2 adds to the cost versus how much compliance testing with what's in the RM2 directly on the Pico 2W PCB adds. The cost of compliance testing would be spread across the millions of Pico 2W sold so potentially cheaper than adding an RM2 to each.
