If you've connected the sensor I2C to GPIOs 2&3, then the overlays won't help you as there is no option for BSC0 to be mapped to those GPIOs.
You'll need to create your own version of the overlay where the I2C target is i2c_arm rather than i2c_csi_dsi, and no need to touch i2c0if or i2c0mux.
