Other projects • RPI CAR HEADUNIT [HELP]

Hey everyone, much love from Italy!
I'm here today because I am searching for some help for a few parts regarding my Car Headunit i am trying to build.

Let me explain a bit. I have a BMW E30, and I am planning to change its audio setup to an HiFi-ish stage 1 solution.
I also want to get rid of a shitty radio a guy put in there, with one that has Carplay (really the only tech inside that car probably).
I started searching for one that was both good and fitting all my needs, but none of them seemed to be exactly what i needed, so i went on a journey to create the best solution possible, with great hardware and optimized software, so that everything seemed like it was professionally built.

Parts:
- Raspberry PI 5
- Some 2.5K touch display i found on AliExpress (very good)
- HifiBerry DAC+ ADC hat
- Rode Lavalier MIC for in car calls/siri
- Carlinkit CCPA wireless dongle

I tried optimizing everything as much as possible and now i get around 35 seconds from when you click the power button to the actual Carplay screen. Not bad, but it could be better (don't know how really, tried pretty much EVERY thing)

TL;DR
I am building a Carplay headunit on a Raspberry Pi 5

The big problem comes now. I need to power the rasp, but i dont want to cut power to it, instead short the J2 pins to make sure it handles internally the shutdown. What i thought could be a good solution was this: using the BATT always on 12V line to give RPI power, after passing through a Buck Converter for 5V @ 5A. Then use the IGN/ACC switched 12V/0V line to give the signal to turn on or off, so that power is never really cut off, and if needed i could add an hardware momentary switch to turn on or off the RPI manually.

The idea sounds good in my head, but i dont know how to build it... never designed circuits unfortunately, so I am hoping someone out there has some experience and could help me!
(something cheap, but most importantly safe and reliable. dont want my car dashboard exploding all over the place, even if its already cracked...)
