Raspberry Pi OS • Re: Frequent TRIM is a Bad Thing? Why?

Some flash devices (like some HDDs) probably recognise very common filesystems, especially the common ones that don't support trim because cameras , dashcams etc probably don't trim..
They might, particularly for portable/removable media, possibly have a go at parsing FAT-family filesystems (which are very simple in nature, well understood, and pretty much not a moving target). Anything else is either likely too complex or has too much risk that they mishandle a new feature of the filesystem. NTFS, most of the traditional Unix filesystems, and especially most of the "modern" Unix/Linux filesystems are moving targets that evolve over time. If the drive controller misidentifies an in-use block as free or mangles some new metadata that it doesn't understand, the results are varying levels of NotGood™.
The SSD could understand the file system the same as a computer reading the drive so it is highly unlikely to make a mistake assuming its firmware isn't buggy. Some HDDs can definitely understand NTFS but I've not seen any mention for SSDs, there is less need to to use positional optimisation with an SSD compared to a HDD.
