That’s good idea, thanks a lot for help!you should search on arducopter forums,but i'll shorten this for you - use separate buck convertor (not sure about drone size,but it has rpi,so it can handle some weight),groung needs to be always connected(all grounds,input and output,take care not to use common + converters,they are not common fortunately),or they can be isolated-connect grounds manually..
and why all this? noise..for gps,for magnetometers,camera and vtx usually does a lot of noise (even 'mouse' camera for movement calculation is recommended to have separate power)
just make sure to have some protection to over-discharge below 3v per cell(or land before 3.2*n V give or take)
