There's an awful lot of DSP stuff available for the ARM M7 core - it's used in the Electrosmith Daisy and several other audio SBCs. The M33 isn't quite as capable but I believe it's instruction set is a superset so stuff should still compile and run once cut and pasted into the RPL SDK.Thank you for the pointers. I've had a quick go at the C++ SDK and it is quite a bit easier than I was expecting.
Lots more reading to do now, but I'm happy that I've set a direction and taken the plunge.
