Yes, that is somewhat true. For example, the Raspberry Pi 4B has two LEDs: one red for power and one green for status, etc. However, on the Raspberry Pi 5, these two LEDs have been combined into a single LED that can show red or green depending on the status.
Regarding the short on the 5V rail, I think that could really be the issue, but I’m not sure how I can be 100% certain that this is the problem.
