There hasn't been a default username and password for many years - it was a huge security hole as the world and his wife knows it.
It's something else you set under “OS Customisation” in imager when writing your boot media.
There was a userconf.txt mechanism that worked in a similar way to .ssh and wpa_supplicant (stuff it in the boot partition prior to first boot) but I've no idea if bookworm supports it.
If you didn't create a user in imager it's highly likely that your Pi is sitting at a prompt on its console asking you to do so.
The above applies to RPiOS, other OS likely do things differently.
