I'm still using MotionEye V4.3.1 - 20201026 after failed attempts to get the version just previous to this going on a Zero.
Thanks for the link to the alternate system. A quick look doesn't seem to include emailed trigger events although there is a scripted that gets triggered so could include this.
My MotionEye did barf to a stand still when my email provider went Oauth2 but I finally got around that with a simple SMTP relay to msmtp which can be configured to use Oauth2.
For me it's "When" someone knocks on my front door but the emailed image is good enough so absolute image quality is less important. What I get is well good enough given the close location front door/visitor/MotionEye camera
