Troubleshooting • Re: Raspi 5 seems unable to access SD-card

I'm currently working on my first project and I want to power my Raspi 5 with 8 1.5v aaa batteries, which yield a max voltage of around 12v.

AAA batteries can supply about .5 to 1amp for a short time.
not enough current for a PI 5 .
Note that 1A at 12V, allowing for converter efficiency, will give 2A at 5V. For a (very) short time. AAA batteries are not suitable for a Pi5, even at an idle load of 0A8 (no peripherals).

Get your system working first with a 5V 5A USB-PD PSU, such as the official PSU. Then think about a suitable supply for your converter, taking into account your actual current consumption when booting and working, and the run-time you need, which determines battery capacity in Wh (Watt hours).
