General discussion • Re: RP2350 and Pico 2 released!

Great product, as always. A good evolution of the original Pico.

Can I ask why it doesn't have a reset button, apart from cost? It seems to be that this was the one thing users were crying out for on the original. That, and port number labelling on the side most useful - which is the top.
If something isn't on the board, it's usually for cost reasons, alternatively, lack of board space. Probably cost in this case, and keeping the form factor consistent with Pico1.

Let's say a switch costs 10c. We cannot add 10c to the price of every Pico2 to the end user - that would make end user prices weird ($5.10!). Now let's say we make 2 million Pico2. That's an additional $200k of parts paid for, but for no additional income, so straight off the bottom line.

People who make fewer boards can take the hit (and they are usually more expensive as well) but when you make stuff in the volumes we do, even tiny additional costs can have a big effect on margins. So it's quite the tightrope, making a board that is good enough for most people vs making it too expensive.
