Hi Steve,
For some unknown reason my original post has been moved from where I originally put it, VERY annoying,?? Anyway.
Jolly good, hopefully we can compair results, there don't seem to be many places showing bat sonograms, so you can do comparrisons, presumably because devices like this that can actually record them have traditionally been so expensive.
One thing I had to do was re-attach the battery pack, it had been superglued in place, but it became detached and the soldering of the pack wasn't great, so I completely removed it, and re-attached using areldite and re-made the solder joints.
Another thing I've found, is they make a lot of not getting water in the untrasonic microphone, or presumably in the electronics, so I've taken to putting it in a thin sealed plastic bag, which so far has worked fine for dew, havent tried actual rain. Anyway, they also mention that SD cards produce audibel, detectable sound and sure enough, when in the bag, the low level, low frequency ticking gets worse, you can see it from about 20kHz downwards, so doesn't really interfear with the bat calls, except some low frequency social calls and the software can easily filter a lot of it out, but, I've found by wrapping some thin polystyrine foam around the board, where the SD card fits in, holding it in place with a couple of elastic bands, you can reduce it back down to almost the open air background noise level, ie as though it's not in the plastic bag.![Smile :-)]()
Let me know how you get on.
Regards, Kevin.
