A big unknown -- the one major item that is missing from the description -- is how OP wants the temp reading. Lakeside display? E-paper display? Wired data? Wireless? Short range BT? Wifi, say MQTT? GSM MQTT? Free-space laser comms to the house? So many options... ![:-)]( "Smile")
The method to get the reading will have some impact on power. Granted, if the temp is updated once an hour, the data rate is very low, but if Wifi there will be non-trivial power draw and it needs to sleep as well, and something like GSM may draw lots and lots of battery juice.
