A update!
History: Since I manage to boot from a usb-drive I was able to update the bootloader, and then I manage to do a netinstall on my ssd-hat.
Last night I tried to do a netinstall on a sd-drive, and to my surprise it worked.
Conclusion is that my sd-writers might be to old to do the work they are suppose to, strangely I was able to read and write cards with them, but not boot from the cards.

Someone proposed the conclusion you have now reached a week ago. (But it's easy to overlook or dismiss things that seem unlikely.)
Could it be that whatever card writer slot or dongle you are using is not reliably writing the size and specification of microSD card you are using?
