HATs and other add-ons • Re: AI Kit + NVMe SSD ?

Are there any Gen 3 PCIe switches?
Sure, however they are probably more expensive than gen2 so not many boards will use one.
One such switch is ASM2806A https://www.asmedia.com.tw/product/788Y ... 9xz8urEGr1

OTOH if such switch would be working over gen3 with the pi5 with no issue despite not being gen3 certified then the downstream gen3 lanes going from the switch may have better compatibility.
The price of the ASM2806 chip is approximately 8 to 10 times that of the ASM1182. Another concern is compatibility. We are happy to see more discussions about the PCIe3.0 switch hat. We are preparing to make a few samples for testing the AI performance differences with the SSD+AI kit. At that time, we will post on the forum to recruit test users and provide free samples for testing to those who have a need. Finally, based on the test results, we may introduce a dual M.2 hat with a PCIe3.0 switch. By the way, I'm from Seeed Studio, and we will be releasing several M.2 Pi hats shortly.
