Troubleshooting • Re: Cannot install updates, clock not synchronized

In particular, after a warm reboot the system clock is likely to be substantially correct but may take a while to synchronize. There is not really a good reason to refuse to attempt updates. At the very worst, a repository may fail a security check if its certificate is "not valid yet", which is the message apt itself would give.

Also note that you cannot resolve this error by setting the clock manually. Only an NTP daemon calling clock_adjtime() will suffice.
Great points! However, your statement "Only an NTP daemon" (instead of "only a daemon supporting the NTP protocol") could lead some to conclude that they need to install ntpd, when in fact there is a perfectly good NTP daemon, systemd-timesyncd, already installed in RasPiOS. Also, chrony works really well, of course.
