Good you solved it! I think port 22 is commented out in config by default. I didn't touch any config files and it's commented out. 'sudo raspi-config' and then 3.Interface options will have SSH section to enable/disable. That's all. It's very neat tool with simple interface for hardware guys. In Ubuntu you need to google and do much more to set up sshd. By default password authentication is disabled in current LTS24, and Ubuntu will track access in that /var/log/auth.log file.
