My experience is the definition of computers and technology is stuck and frustrated.Stuck and frustrated.... I wonder.... does everyone go through this ?
The Zero 2 has only 0.5 GB RAM which it likely runs out of when trying to start the desktop.
The lite version without the desktop gets further, but such a small amount of memory is then not enough to update the software using apt.

In both cases increasing the size of swap allows things to proceed, though slowly.
It's surprising how much more computer one gets with a Pi 5 compared to a Pi Zero 2. The economy that comes from scaling things up is why the large cloud providers are so profitable.
