Linux is open source so it is a bit easier to support. That's the article I was thinking of. It baffles me how that got into the MagPi given the stance on here ("We don't support Windows on Pi" - from moderators and RPL staff) was the same back then as it is now.
However even then some dollars were thrown at Igalia to get help with the video drivers.
There is still only a limited number of Pi engineers n software people.
Windows is closed source.
Without having access how can the Pi engineers fix things or get things working?
As for stuff getting into Pi mag, perhaps it is taking a poke at MS.
Poke them enough they might do something?
MS has been poked enough to now have Linux on Windows and Win OS on big ARM.
