Didn't work for me on a RPi 5 with Wayland with a MacBook Pro running 14.5...
To set the VNC password from the CLI, use the following command: sudo vncpasswd -service -legacy
...
As I only have access to a RPi 3B+, I was only able to verify that it works with X11. If someone with a RPi 4 or 5 can verify that it works with Wayland, please let us know.
