Well I've done a whole bunch more messing around , mostly with a Argon 5 NVMe , this works fine , all my NVMe sticks work here (an it can boot from them (but it does only have one NVMe slot... so the bug/feature is not an issue.

However I have come back the the Waveshare, with 2 stick I now know are good. They simply fail to appear. looking a dmesg I can't see any attempt to access them, it's simply as if there is no NVMe "subsystem" in existence.

Code:

root@waveshare:/var/log# root@waveshare:/var/log# lsblkNAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINTSmmcblk0 179:0 0 29.7G 0 disk ├─mmcblk0p1 179:1 0 512M 0 part /boot/firmware└─mmcblk0p2 179:2 0 29.2G 0 part /root@waveshare:/var/log# lspci00:00.0 PCI bridge: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM2711 PCIe Bridge (rev 20)01:00.0 PCI bridge: ASMedia Technology Inc. At the above point there are 2 sticks of NVMe installed.
