When bookworm came out, I was pretty damn sure that I was going to continue using dhcpcd, but I've willingly given up on that aspiration.
Can this be resolved, or must I change to network manager. I really do not need it, as there will be no network switches for my project.
Network Manager in Bookworm is SO much better than dhcpcd in terms of ease of configuration (once you sort it out or take advantage of sdm's 'network' plugin NM support).
I've found the network configuration to be much more reliable, and certainly chock full of better logging.
With all that said, I just customized a Bookworm IMG using sdm with network:netman=dhcpcd and raspberrypi-sys-mods was NOT removed when dhcpcd was installed.
So, what specific RasPiOS IMG are you trying to customize and seeing this issue? I might suggest that you move this discussion and open an issue on the sdm github, but if you'd prefer to continue here, that works for me (as long as you quote me so I know you replied).
