Troubleshooting • Re: Question : Why does Bookworm pre-install 'RPi.GPIO' which doesn't work ?

RPi.GPIO input and output works fine on my Pi4 using Bookworm!
Maybe something has changed, perhaps I am mistaken, maybe my notes are wrong or incomplete, or perhaps I extrapolated "parts of it not working" to "it not working, period".

There are certainly bug reports of RPi.GPIO not completely working under Bookworm on Pi 4B -

https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/6037

I installed the 'rpi-lgpio' drop-in replacement for 'RPi.GPIO' on my Pi 4B Bookworm some 7 months ago so I really cannot recall exactly what problems I may have encountered back then.

But I'll accept the question should perhaps be - Why does Bookworm pre-install 'RPi.GPIO' which doesn't work at all for Pi 5 and doesn't completely work for earlier Pi when using Bookworm ?

But I'd still contend not fully working equates to not working in a big picture context.
