I've written a library that works with the Inversense MPU6050 - MPU9255. MPU Library. In the examples directory of that repository there are two MPU examples autocalibrating the accel/gyro offsets displaying the values on an OLED display (reading a 100Hz, display update at 5Hz). One using pthreads for sample rate and one without. You can also check the tst directory for additional short MPU development files. I think there are one or two additional programs plus one for calibrating the magnetometor on the 9250/9255 models.
