I have been enjoying the speed increase provided by the RPi5 over the RPi4 in my applications including KStars for astrophotography.
I have to operate with X11 instead of Wayland. A couple of functions in the new set up are very slow. An obvious one is just opening a text file stored on the desktop, written using the Accessory 'Text Editor', takes a full 25 seconds. After double clicking on the file symbol, for the first 20 seconds there is an egg timer attached to the cursor arrow, this then reverts to a simple cursor arrow for the next few seconds until the file finally opens. Is this a known issue?
I have found other examples of what seems to be very slow UI response behaviours , in the order of several seconds, when running KStars/Ekos/Indi. These slow responses seem to be due to the Bookworm OS, since they do not occur with KStars running on Arch 64.
